Even with best friends, it can be easy to take each other for granted. When I was in high school, my best friend and I did everything together. Even though we were not in the same grade, we managed to spend the better part of every day together, and everyone knew that if they found one of us, the other was not far away.
Unfortunately, after high school, we lost touch due to a number of unforeseen circumstances. We did not talk for many years, but I know I thought about her every day. Recently, we reconnected and found out that we only live an hour apart. Imagine how wonderful it was to get together again! When we met for dinner, I gave her this poem in a card, and she actually cried. We have vowed never to lose touch again.
