From the outside looking in, it is easy to assume that a male and female who are really close must be romantically involved. My sister and I grew up next door to a kid named Andy; from the day they met, he and my sister were completely inseparable. They stood up for each other at school, and he even beat up a kid who was giving my sister a hard time; as the years go by, they just seem to get closer and closer.
At one point, our families were sure that they would get married some day, until it turned out that Andy was gay. Now, even though the ideas of a romantic wedding have been dashed, we all know that they will be friends forever.
