Love That

I love that I can text you,
If I'm ever in the mood,
I love that we can just hang out,
And eat lots of junk food.

I love that when we go to school,
It actually is fun,
I love that we can talk all night,
Once our homework's done.

I love that we are "bestest" friends,
It makes me feel so good,
So call me after reading this,
I really wish you would!

Although we are told that the teenage years are the best in our lives, anyone who has ever been through them knows how tough they can be. At the same time that we are trying to fit in with our peers, we are trying to find an identity that is separate from our parents.

Often, we rely on our friends during this difficult time as we would on a sister, brother, or parent. Our friends can define us, support us, and help us through the hard times. When I was in high school, my best friend's name was Monica.

We shared all of our deepest secrets, discovered things about boys, and joked around in class together. I can't imagine what I would have done without her. This poem here reminds me of how much we meant to each other, and I couldn't help showing it to my daughter.

Although she didn't want to admit it, I knew it made an impression, and I was not surprised when I saw her sneak in and print it out. She emailed a copy to her best friend, and I know that it helped to make their friendship stronger. If you have a teenager who is struggling to find her way, friendship teenage poems can help her put her feelings into words.
