Separate Ways

When I lost you as a friend,
The days they seemed so long,
I missed you every moment
And all just felt so wrong.

When we both went our separate ways,
I felt sad and alone,
I wondered if you felt that too,
Or if you'd ever phone.

I hope that we can talk someday,
For I do miss you so,
I'd love to work things out with you,
And see our friendship grow.

Have you ever had a friendship that you thought would last forever, but you ended up drifting apart? We never forget the people who have been close to us, and losing a friend can leave a huge void in our lives. Sometimes, even if it seems like nothing will fix what has been broken, you just have to keep trying.

When I was in college, I had a really good friend named Andrea - we talked about everything, and we had so much in common. It was great to have such a good friend when I was missing my family and my high school friends, and I just assumed that we would be friends forever.

Then I started dating the guy that I eventually married, and Andrea was jealous; she thought that I was not spending enough time with her. Pretty soon, she stopped returning my calls and messages, and she didn't have much to say when we ran into each other on campus.

As happy as I was with my new boyfriend, I really missed her, but I didn't know what to do. Then one day, I found a couple of poems like this one online. I printed them out, found a really nice card, and sent them to her through the campus mail. The next day, my cell phone rang, and it was Andrea. The lost friendship poems I had sent her had convinced her that I really did care about her; our friendship has been strong ever since then.
