True Friendship
The meaning of true friendship
Is not a tricky thing,
It simply means to be there,
Whatever life may bring.
It means to lend a helping hand,
Whenever friends need you,
It means to speak with gentle words,
When friends are feeling blue.
It means to be quite loving,
And to often show you care,
This will simply tell your friends
That you are always there!

When my husband and I moved to a new town, I was worried about meeting people and making friends. I had three young children, and he would be working at a new job over an hour away from our new apartment. I never expected that the best friend I would ever meet was right upstairs.
Her name is Karen, and she was quite a bit older, but seemed very sweet. She lived alone, but her daughter dropped off her grandson every day before she went off to her teaching job. Karen and I began spending time together, as I took care of my little ones and she cared for her grandson.
Karen has a medical condition called fibromyalgia, which causes her to be in pain a lot of the time, as well as feeling really tired. It seemed like a blessing to both of us that we lived so close, because I was able to help her with her grandson, run errands, and do the things she could not take care of herself.
One day, she gave me a wonderful card with a poem like this one, to show me how much she appreciated the things I did for her. What she did not realize is that her friendship was just as important to me, because I found a true friend that I could rely on for support at any time. True friendship poems mean so much between people who care about each other; why not send your closes friends a meaningful poem today?
